Riverdale High School - Dedication Page
Cathy Csendes- 1969 Grad
I remember Cathy loved making music. She was an active member of the "Sixteens" singing group at Roxboro United Church. Later she and I were members of the singing group "Icthus" with many other Riverdale alumni. Like many Riverdalians, from time to time, we rode together on the CN commuter train on our way to classes at McGill or Sir George [ Concordia]. Cathy always had an interesting story to tell, or an idea for another song the group should perform. She left us too soon. Charles Eadie - Classmate

Cathy was a dear friend in high school. We often
got together with her sister, Christine, for fun times. I will always
remember Cathy's ready smile. This is the first I have heard of Cathy's
passing, and I am in deep shock. My heart goes out to Christine and the
rest of the family. I hadn't been in touch with Cathy
since high school, except for when she phoned me ten years later for a
baseball game on Mt. Royal, and I was unable to make it. Cathy was always
an optimistic person, with tons of great ideas for fun times, often spontaneous.
She had an enthusiasm which was infectious: it was impossible for Cathy's
friends to be unhappy when we were around Cathy! I am glad that I did
know her, and shall never forget Cathy. With deepest sympathy,

"Cathy was diagnosed with schizophrenia in
Cegep, and had a difficult life after that. She still managed to keep a positive attitude, and after years of study, succeeded in getting her B.A.,which she was very proud of. She struggled with the disease and heavy medication but was finally struck down by a viral flu at the young age of 37. Her valient fight and courage will never be forgotten. We think of her often with the fondest of memories. Her loving sister, Christine"
